Description
General Summary:
This position aids and assists in performing the necessary duties and tasks associated with emergency response of hazardous and non-hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and other environmental-related activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform necessary duties and tasks associated with emergency response to various environmental clean-up situations. These include but are not limited to hazardous and non-hazardous materials, site remediation, equipment decontamination along non-emergency clean-up.
• Perform using high-pressure water blasting equipment to clean heavy industrial equipment such as pipes, boilers, tanks, heat exchangers, etc.
• Assisting in loading equipment such as hoses, chemicals, and other equipment supplies that the project needs.
• Operate equipment by energizing the pumping equipment and or any specialized hydro-blasting and or chemical cleaning equipment. Includes operation of vacuum trucks and cutting equipment.
• Perform physical functions in all types of weather conditions.
• Works in atmospheres of low clearance, confined spaces, and heights.
• Expected to perform strenuous physical labor, move and unload, utilize hand and power tools, and pressure washers.
• Work as a team and individually.
• Able to coherently report findings to the chain of command and follow instructions.
• Operate pick-ups and small equipment.
• Learns and complies with company policies and procedures and safety rules.
• Learned hazardous materials handling and precautions.
• Maintains required equipment service records.
• Assures safekeeping and proper usage of company tools.
• Participate in environmental operations and regulatory compliance.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required.
Requirements
Educational and Certification/Licensure Requirements:
• High School graduate or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license required; Class A Commercial Driver’s license preferred.
• Experience with level D, C, & B PPE preferred.
• 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Confined Space training preferred.
Knowledge/ Skills:
• Experience working in construction, electrical, landscaping, farming, or other outdoor occupations is preferred.
• Must be able to use or learn to use tools and equipment, such as but not limited to the following: pulleys, vises, hand and power tools, mechanic rollers, acetylene tanks, wooden blocks, steel collars/shackles, steel hooks, welding equipment, grinders, hydraulic jacks, steel chains and cable, portable lights, "come along," tractors, forklifts, flatbed truck, pickup truck, wheelbarrow, pumps, and generators.
