Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey, Inc. (PPNCSNJ) provides comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care, abortion services, education and information to women, men and teens at 17 health centers throughout 18 counties in New Jersey.

The Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for actively supporting the development department’s fundraising goals primarily through the cultivation of relationships with key stakeholders including donors, volunteers and community partners. This person will be responsible for designing and implementing initiatives that maintain, identify and cultivate prospective major gift donors, which includes communications, tracking and managing the prospective donor pool.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Philanthropy Officer performs a wide range of duties, including, but not limited to the following:

Manage a portfolio of prospects in the assigned territory. (120-150 donors).

Manage prospect activity in the assigned territory.

Maintain excellent major donor relations through personal contacts, phone calls, email and letter correspondence.

Build and manage internal and external networks to assist in identification, cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects and support.

Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle.

Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors in partnership with the VP.

Develop appropriate cultivation strategies for donors in conjunction with the VP of Development.

Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure.

Work with the VP of Development to identify prospects.

Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors.

Assist with special events to MOVES manage donors when needed.

Stay informed about the affiliate’s programs/services to effectively represent them to the public.

In conjunction with the VP of Development, establish and meet annual goals for fundraising as developed within the annual budgetary process to support established number of visits and portfolio.

Travels throughout the Affiliate’s service area as required.

Performs other duties as assigned in support of mission and as required to ensure delivery of consistent high-quality services.

REQUIREMENTS:

MUST HAVE:

Portfolio is Northern and Central NJ 3-5 years of major gift/individual donor experience, Experience managing donor portfolios.

Experience with direct solicitation

Demonstrated experience in a donor-centric model of fundraising and a proven track record in securing gifts and implementation of stewardship plans.

Mastery of Raiser’s Edge, CRM, wealth screening as tools to support a robust individual giving program.

Proven track record in securing gifts and working with senior leadership to identify major gift prospects and help create portfolio pipelines.

Exceptional ability to multi-task and adapt flexibly to shifting priorities and projects.

Ability to work effectively within a team.

Highly skilled at prospecting, donor research and understands moves management.

Minimum Education/Certification(s): bachelor’s degree in business or related field. A combination of work experience may substitute the degree requirements.

Minimum Work Experience: Minimum three (3) years’ experience in development.

Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license. Reliable transportation to travel throughout the service area.
