The Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Administrative Services, seeks an Intermediate Accountant to be located in Jefferson City, Missouri. This position will be a part of the Department’s Medicaid & Reimbursement Unit.

Responsibilities:

The successful incumbent will:

• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the requirements for billing third party payer revenue sources, Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance, for state operated facilities; monitor and update internal processes.
• Participate in IT project development, testing and related follow up within the story/ticket system.
• Monitor all third party payer billing and respond timely within that process.
• Prepare the monthly DMH Collection Report and assemble yearly revenue collection data for comparison in the monthly report.
• Complete the bi-monthly Medicaid revenue JV and other daily revenue transactions.
• Assemble and complete fiscal notes submitted to the Unit. Initiate meetings or calls to resolve outstanding issues prior to the proposal deadline.
• Participate in the execution of the Standard Means Test (SMT) monthly statements, sliding fee scale preparation and calculations for special SMT income requests.
• Participate in the estate recovery process through preparation of certificates for the Office of the Attorney General.
• Participate in the Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) audit.
• Interpret Medicare and/or Medicaid policy on reimbursement and billing matters.
• Provide consultation with Division and facility staff on pertinent Unit activities.
• Participate in revenue maximization strategy planning and/or execution.
• Develop and maintain reports based on historical requests and to provide information related to new requests of the Unit.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and two years of professional experience in business or public administration, economics, finance, or a closely related field. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the stated qualifications.
