DATA ENGINEER

EKN Engineering is a fast-growing civil engineering and technology consulting company located in Irvine, CA. We are searching for a Data Engineer to join our rapidly growing organization.

We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in leveraging data to drive insights, improve decision-making processes, and enhance the performance of our engineering projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for collecting, storing, and processing large volumes of data from various sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operational teams, software developers, and data analysts to understand data requirements and implement solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Optimize data workflows and ETL processes to ensure efficient data ingestion, transformation, and loading into analytics platforms.
  • Implement data quality checks, validation procedures, and monitoring systems to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data assets.
  • Develop custom data models, schemas, and architectures to support advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling initiatives.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in data engineering, and propose innovative solutions to address business challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relative work experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and ETL processes using modern tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Airflow, AWS Glue, etc.)
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in developing efficient, maintainable code.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and hands-on experience with relevant services (e.g., S3, EC2, Redshift, etc.).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and BI concepts is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
