What You Will DoThe Chief People Officer at Girl Scouts of Central Indiana plays a pivotal role in shaping and fostering the organizational culture. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that promote a positive, inclusive, and empowering culture that aligns with the values and mission of the organization.
This position also is entrusted with the critical responsibility of leading the organization’s talent development strategies to ensure a robust pipeline of skilled and engaged employees. The Chief People Officer works to create a supportive environment where all members feel valued and can thrive. This position will be in a Hybrid work environment.
How You Will Lead
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cultural strategy that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture at all levels and locations of the organization.
  • Lead initiatives to promote employee retention and engagement, well-being, and satisfaction throughout the organization.
  • Ensure employee policies and practices are developed, implemented, and audited for equity and inclusion.
  • Collaborate across the organization for the development of strategies that build a sense of belonging for all stakeholders.
  • Develop communication strategies to promote employee inclusion and development this includes the development of a comprehensive yearlong development schedule for employees that stands alone but is also integrated into monthly all-staff meetings and management pieces of training.
  • Lead efforts to enhance internal communication and maintain a high level of priority on transparency within the organization.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Council’s learning and development strategy, as well as staff and consultants dedicated to supporting this work.
  • Support an inclusive workplace culture through a continuous learning agenda that promotes a people-first approach, with diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and disrupts unconscious bias, exclusionary practices, microaggressions, and discrimination.
  • Champion policies and programs that attract, promote, develop, and retain staff of diverse backgrounds.
  • Monitor and evaluate the strategic priorities of the organization focused on its people and a culture of inclusivity and belonging.
  • Stay informed and engaged within community conversations focused on trends and best practices in organizational culture and make recommendations for implementation within the Girl Scouts movement.
  • Actively engage in organizational capacity building, continuous improvement, and strategic direction through the lens of people leadership and culture.

What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as organizational development, human resources, or sociology).
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in human resources, organizational culture, or talent and development, preferably in a nonprofit or youth-focused organization.
  • PHR or SPRH certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people and a passion for promoting inclusivity and empowerment.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Girl Scouts organization.
Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentRequires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping, and stretching; eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
Also requires moderate to intense concentration due to complexity and/or the need to meet deadlines, and flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment.
