Hudsonville Public Schools is Hiring a Technology Specialist Near Hudsonville, MI

Description

  • Performs troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance involving computer hardware and software
  • Provides audio-visual support for faculty
  • Provides technical support for standard desktop/laptop computer hardware, software, and applications as well as specialized internal information systems
  • Uses a variety of diagnostic and portable test equipment or software to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems, determining whether the problem is system-related, hardware, software, or the end-user
  • Assumes responsibility for the care, regular maintenance, and cleaning of computer and peripheral equipment
  • Installs, operates, and tests operating systems, software programs, and related peripheral devices, examining output for legibility, clarity, completeness, and compliance with desired program results
  • Installs, configures, repairs, and replaces server hardware, workstations (Windows and Macintosh), printers, audio-visual equipment, phone system, and new hardware devices
  • Submits network and electronic mail requests to technical support staff, ensuring receipt of requests and follow-up
  • Acts as liaison between end-users, vendors, and technical support staff to resolve hardware and software problems
  • Conducts and coordinates on-the-job training or assists users, participating in computer technology classes, in the proper operation and care of software programs, personal computers, peripheral devices, and software programs
  • Documents problems relating to hardware, software, and setup of prescribed formats, resolving them independently or referring them to appropriate staff or outside vendors as needed
  • Assist in the proper disposal of retired equipment
  • Assists and or coordinates in the deployment of new technical equipment
  • Maintains and reports on all support, repair, service, and deployment of equipment
  • Ensures availability and suitability of operating system, software, and utility programs
  • May diagnose local server and local network communication and equipment problems
  • Performs network installation and configuration functions of hardware as needed
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • Valid driver’s license and available vehicle
  • A minimum of one of the following:
    • A , equivalent experience or substantiated knowledge
    • Network , equivalent experience, or substantiated knowledge
    • Apple hardware Certification, equivalent experience, or substantiated knowledge


    Language Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret communication including emails, letters, spreadsheet and forms. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members.


    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to calculate basic mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; determine percentages and decimals; spatial aptitude to inspect length and weight of objects


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
