HOUSTON is Hiring a Geotechnical Field Technician Near Houston, TX

Job Description:


Results Statement:

The field Technician will support the project manager, staff engineers, laboratory manager, or other staff as directed to assure client satisfaction following the applicable standards, specifications and company guidelines.

Ongoing Work:

  • Perform field logging and coordination.
  • Perform laboratory tests
  • Document the work performed as appropriate on media and forms provided
  • Provide support to Project Manager, Staff Engineers and/or Laboratory Manager as needed.
  • Perform duties in a safe, cheerful, efficient and workman like manner.
  • Provide a safe, clean workplace.

Position Specific Standards:

  • Pay attention to details. All information will be double checked during fieldwork and lab testing.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Be resourceful; show competence in establishing priorities, managing time, gaining cooperation from others, monitoring progress, problem solving and closing the loop on outstanding requests and tasks.

Key Criteria/Requirements

  • Possess Bachelors in Civil Engineering or minimum of 2 years experience in soil borehole logging and laboratory testing of soil samples.
  • Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples as a routine part of the job.
  • Ability to tolerate year round outdoor work
  • Valid Texas Drivers License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug related traffic offenses
  • Willingness to travel and work out of town about 70 percent of his time in a month when needed and ability to work over the weekends if needed.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs required
  • Ability to acquire related certifications, review ASTM standards for lab testing and fieldwork
