DescriptionThe Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality science instruction to students in grades 6-8, in Middle School Science concepts and Earth Science. This role involves creating an engaging and dynamic learning environment that fosters students' curiosity and enthusiasm for science. The teacher will develop and implement a rigorous science curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific literacy.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and the school's curriculum goals.
- Deliver engaging and interactive science instruction that incorporates hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and technology.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, including those with special needs and English language learners.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love of learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and address any academic or behavioral concerns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and grades.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in science education.
- Ensure the safety and proper use of laboratory equipment and materials.
WORK CONDITIONSThis position operates within a middle school setting, including classrooms and science laboratories. The work environment may involve exposure to chemicals, biological specimens, and laboratory equipment. The teacher may need to lift and carry materials and equipment, as well as perform tasks that require standing, walking, and moving around the classroom. Additionally, the teacher may attend meetings, workshops, and school events outside of regular school hours. Employees may be required to perform emergency and non-emergency health-related services for students as needed.

- The salary noted is based on the 2023-24 school year. Salaries will be updated following the 2024-25 budget confirmation.
