Milo C. Cockerham, Inc. a 3rd generation, locally owned and operated, business owing and operating (8) Cockerham Food Marts in Galax, Hillsville, & Fancy Gap, VA, the Hampton Inn and the Pizza Inn/TCBY in Hillsville, VA. is looking for an experienced result-oriented Store Manager for our Travel Center in Hillsville, VA.

The successful candidate main objective is to effectively and efficiently manage the day-to-day operations of the store and restaurant business. Individual must posses effective leadership skills in recruiting, hiring, coaching, and developing a productive staff while maximizing sales and revenue growth by meeting operational goals and standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of “Excellence in Customer Service” by having a complete commitment to meeting our customer’s needs.
  • Provide effective leadership and supervision for all store and restaurant staff.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain high-quality group of employees.
  • Maintain facility image to company standards.
  • Prepare weekly employee schedules; develop work plans and assignments for employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and governmental regulatory requirements.
  • Control and monitor store expenses within company budget.
  • Oversee and maintain operation records and prepare daily reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide communication to staff on policies, procedures, best practices. Will communicate back to District Managers and Corporate from store employees.
  • Ensures facility is operating during required business hours.
  • Position will be responsible to meeting budget targets.

Qualification/Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership experience, with history of successful industry management or retail management experience.
  • Ability to hire, train, develop and motivate a highly effective store team.
  • Able to resolve/mediate complaints and problems as they arise from customers and employees. Ability to maintain calm professional attitude under stressful conditions.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Ability to read and analyze budgets, Profit/Loss statements, and proven ability to achieve the operational goals.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time (up to 10 hours), climb ladders, tolerate chemical smells such as gasoline, tolerate cold temperatures (38 degrees).
  • Must be available to work a minimum of a 48 hour work week.
  • Have advanced experience in customer service.
