We have been dreaming about opening a restaurant in our small town that serves as a sort of sanctuary. A place where people of all ages can come together, relax and enjoy an always fresh from scratch meal that is approachably priced and made as much from locally sourced ingredients as possible. We want to create a space where people can share a sense of pride when they dine knowing that it’s supporting others that they have personal relationships with and in turn we hope to cultivate a deeper sense of connection among them. In order to execute this goal, we will have to build a team that operates much the same way our family does when growing our food. A “restaurant family” that shares our excitement for creating a culinary experience that brings people together again and again! We want to share our understanding of how food influences health and wellness with our staff and teach them basic skills for preparing healthy food at home so that they may share those skills with their own families. We believe that food and its preparation is this universal thing that can bring all people together. An artform that nurtures both the body and the soul.

Sassafras Kitchen & Coffee Bar is looking to hire BARistas! That't not a typo, this is a crossover position behind our "Coffee Bar." You will be required to understand mixology both from a bartender standpoint as well as a Barista standpoint.

Sassafras Kitchen & Coffee Bar is a casual but upscale restaurant that focuses on serving fresh, often locally sourced comfort food during the breakfast and lunch hours. We combine a trendy quick service café space with a full-service restaurant. We want people of all ages to feel welcome to stop in and grab a quick bite and a coffee while using the WIFI or relax and enjoy a sit-down meal with family and friends. Our Goal is to cultivate a deeper sense of connection and pride for the people of our community through sharing food prepared fresh from scratch that is approachably priced and made from locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. In order to execute this goal, we have to build a strong team that shares our excitement for creating a culinary experience that brings people together again and again!

Responsibilities:

• Prepare Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic Beverages for patrons.
• Engage with guests to determine their drink preferences and make recommendations and upsell customers to premium selections when appropriate.
• Check Identification of ALL GUESTS before serving alcohol!
• Help develop new cocktail recipes.
• Operate and maintain espresso machine and other brewing equipment.
• Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, Caffe latte, and cappuccino.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; reporting needed repairs to direct supervisor.
• Assist in preperation of house made mixers and garnishes as needed.
• Maintain a clean work environment by removing trash, cleaning tables / Bar and washing glasses/ utensils and equipment.
• Take inventory of bar produce and alcohol on hand and communicate with management for purchasing.
• Support service staff by preparing ordered beverages.
• Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• **Must be 21 Years of age Minimum**
• Positive Attitude; Customer Service Oriented.
• Must be able to Stand and Walk for Extended Periods of Time (8hrs)
• Ability to Handle Stress Well and adapt to a fast-pace environment.
• Ability to Multi-Task efficiently.
• Clear Communication Skills, Adaptability & Problem-Solving.
• Ability to Reach, Bend, Stoop and Frequently Lift up to 25 lbs Required.
• Basic Kitchen Skills, Bar, & Drinks Knowledge.
• Functioning Knowledge of POS Systems.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 Years Bartending/Barista Experience Preferred.
