Virtus Healthcare Staffing is partnering with a skilled nursing center in Hesston, KS to find a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT). This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled OT to make a positive impact on the lives of patients by helping them regain or improve their functional abilities and independence.
Looking for a work-life balance? This position offers a 35-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, with no weekend rotations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for patients to assess their functional abilities and needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans that address each patient's specific goals, focusing on activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), and vocational skills.
- Utilize a variety of occupational therapy techniques to improve patients' strength, coordination, endurance, and cognitive skills.
- Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on how to safely and effectively perform ADLs and IADLs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, physicians, social workers, and therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Document progress in patients' medical records and participate in care conferences.
- Maintain a safe and patient-centered treatment environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay up-to-date on current occupational therapy practices.
- Minimum Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) from an accredited program.
- Valid Occupational Therapy License in the state of Kansas.
- Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in a skilled nursing facility setting (preferred).
- Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to document effectively in medical records.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with geriatric populations.
- Knowledge of evidence-based occupational therapy practices for patients in skilled nursing facilities.
- Experience with ADL/IADL training and adaptations.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
