Fairwinds Technologies is Hiring a Remote Human Factors Engineer (MD/VA Area-REMOTE with TRAVEL)

Human Factors EngineerFairwinds Technologies is looking for a senior Human Factors (HF) Engineer in the Maryland/ Virginia area to lead the program in HF integration, concept design and development, user testing and qualification. They will also be involved in all phases of the lifecycle and have inputs to defining HF requirements, systems integration, setting up and running assessments and generating qualification evidence. Additionally, the HF Engineer will assist program personnel by providing subject matter expertise with regard to HF strategy and implementation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in team environments.
  • Proven technical aptitude and ability to solve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal).
  • Familiarity with; Human Workload, Situation Awareness, Human Reliability Analysis and Cultural Interventions.
  • Experience leading prototype teams using Agile concepts and methodology.
  • Designs usability testing, oversees data collection and analysis of behavioral data.
  • Master’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or behavioral or related science or an advanced degree in Industrial or System Engineering with course work in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or related.
  • A minimum of 15 years’ total experience of increasing responsibilities and specialized experience in human factors
  • Secret Security Clearance required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide qualitative, analytical, and evaluative methods of systems analysis to assess human performance, cognitive workload, GUI usability and interaction, ergonomics, and requirements verification.
  • Conducts evaluations from inception to completion, including the identification of facilities, measurement methods, subjects, collection and analysis of data, and documentation of results.
  • Developing human factors engineering strategies and leads HF activities, including requirements definition research, use-related risk analysis, and formative usability studies.
  • Improves internal HF processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Assures that proposed recommendations and modifications are based upon well-founded results and that actions have been thoroughly coordinated within all program stakeholders.
  • Conduct research, development, design, testing, and modeling functions to build design standards and incorporate Human Systems Integration (HSI).
  • Support services and integration efforts to identify inefficiencies, recommend improvement areas and prepare project plans.
Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full time, exempt position.
Work Authorization/Security ClearanceMust be a U.S citizen with the ability to possess a valid US DoD security clearance.
