Quality Manager
  • Provide timely, accurate preparation, evaluation, and recording of seed analysis in accordance to standardized testing procedures, as recognized by the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA), the Association of Official Seed Analysts (AOSA), and to provide the needed solutions to fulfill inventory orders with the quality information needed.
Major Job Responsibilities;
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with industry standards; ensure testing methods and protocols are up to date according to the Federal Seed Act, the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA), and the Association of Official Seed Analysts (AOSA).
  • Responsible for the testing of multiple classifications of seed for germination, physical purity, vigor, accelerated aging, and seed quality.
  • Work in cooperation with all stakeholders and provide solutions relating to testing needs and results.
  • Receive and document seed samples and maintain records and oversee the sample bank and sampling processes.
  • Ability to train and manage technicians, University interns and other staff.
  • Drive the development and implementation of a quality Management System (QMS). Develop Work Instructions and SOP’s for the lab.
  • Work with team members on appropriate sampling methodologies, weights and procedures as well as appropriate nomenclature for species being tested.
  • Timely, accurate preparation, evaluation, recording and communication of seed analysis.
  • Responsible for implementing and improving established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the quality of work coming out of the lab area.
  • Responsible for proper use and maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Support the training and coordination of technicians to ensure that analyses are completed effectively.
  • Initiation and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities including enhancements to safety, quality, costs, and workplace environment.
  • Communication of issues that may arise, such as supply requirements, safety concerns, or analysis irregularities.
  • Responsible for maintaining standardized seed testing program, including design and maintenance of laboratory work cards and reports of analysis.
  • Responsible for safety. Adhering to the company safety policy, building a culture of caring.

  • Timeliness and accuracy of delivered work.
  • Attention to detail, drives tasks to closure efficiently with error-free result.
  • Excellent judgment and a business partner mentality.
  • Participate effectively in a demanding environment for results.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • 2 years in a seed testing environment.
  • Versatile and ability to handle different responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications for data maintenance and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • SAP, ABS experience preferred.
Safety, Health And Environment
  • Follow all safety, health, and environmental requirements for the production facility.
  • Supervise disposal of bi-products, scrap, and other materials according to proper procedures.
  • Ensure that all work-related activities are carried out in a manner consistent with Advanta’s values, culture and procedures.
Educational Background
  • Registered Seed Technologist certification or ability to acquire.
