Summary:
The Video Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous observation of all cameras through a video monitoring system. They will verbally summon nursing staff if they visualize any unsafe or at risk behaviors.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintains visual observation at all times and cannot be distracted by answering phones, patient contact, electronic device usage, etc. Informs nurse prior to leaving monitoring station for any reason so relief may be provided to ensure constant observation. Demonstrates professionalism and flexibility necessary to function in the healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of Video Monitoring Software. Seeks help as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.
  • Participates in hand-off communication when visual monitoring is initiated and upon completion of shift assigned. Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environment safety. Respects and provides patient confidentiality. Seeks guidance as needed.
  • Observes and reports patient information obtained during visual monitoring. Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the position’s orientation. Use standard precautions and principles of infection control.
  • Ensures patient safety at all times. Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Seeks assistance from unit staff with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and/or hallways reports finding to Charge Nurse. Adheres to policies, procedures, all safety plans and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous experience in a health care setting preferred
