Position Overview
The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill two (2) vacancies for the classification of Marketing and Communications Assistant in the Department of Communications. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for one (1) year.
Under general supervision, performs various marketing and communications related tasks in support of one or more functional areas of the Department of Communications; provides administrative and customer service assistance to City employees and the public; and performs related duties as assigned.
IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT
The ideal candidate will have a background in general Marketing and/or Communications within the public or private sector.
  • Provides support to the Department of Communications by assisting internal staff to manage brand and marketing communications initiatives
  • Develops copy for website, newsletters and other forms of written content
  • Assists with staffing at various Citywide programs and events
  • Inputs creative briefs for marketing communications campaigns
  • Maintains marketing databases relating to advertising, vendor, press and other subjects
  • Performs a variety of support duties including market and client research, organizing, and managing marketing collateral, and other related tasks
  • Creates reports on marketing performance and public relations placements
  • Takes accurate and thorough notes during meetings; prepares agendas and recaps
  • Maintains schedules for marketing initiatives

Salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school, or the equivalent
  • Six (6) months experience in public relations, social media, marketing, journalism, communications, or a closely related field
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license as defined by NRS 483

The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best-qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process.     • Thirteenth calendar year of service and beyond - 23.75 hours per month

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE
  • Four (4) workdays of leave, with pay, per occurrence
HOLIDAYS
  • 13 paid holidays per year
  • Two (2) floating holidays per year (one in first year if hired on or after July 1st)
  • The ability to bank holidays, up to 152 hours, that fall on an employee's regularly scheduled day off
WORK WEEK
  • Four-day, 9.5-hour workday, 38-hour work week
  • Four-day, 10-hour workday, 40-hour work week for Police PERS positions
