Ferguson Florissant School District is Hiring a Parent Educator (PAT) Near Hazelwood, MO

The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of parent educator in the Parents as Teachers Affiliate program. Our program provides support and education for families with children from prenatal to kindergarten entry in the form of personal visits, group connections and developmental screenings.
Qualifications
  • Certification and/or Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Social Work, Health or Psychology or a related four-year degree.
  • Current certification as a Parent Educator from the Parents as Teachers National Center is highly desirable.
  • Upon hiring, successful completion of Certification in Parents as Teachers Foundational Curriculum and Model Implementation (if not currently certified).
  • Experience working, and building relationships, with parents and young children.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, prenatal to age 5.
  • Flexible schedule: availibility in evenings, and/or Saturdays is required, as is Thursday afternoon staff meetings.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to build rapport quickly, conveying warmth and interest in families.
  • Strong growth mindset with an ability to reflect and assess one's own skills for their development as an educator.
  • Ability to recruit families into the Parents as Teachers program.
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, organized and work independently.
  • Basic computer skills
Responsibilities
  • Conduct personal visits with families in the home, or in a community location at the parents' request.
  • Develop, monitor and review goals with families.
  • Connect families to needed community resources.
  • Maintain accurate, and complete records in a timely manner.
  • Complete developmental, health, hearing and vision screenings.
  • Plan and facilitate group connections with families.
  • Maintain certification with Parents as Teachers National Center by completing required trainings and requirements.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with families and staff.
  • Attend recruitment events in and around our district.
  • Daily travel throughout our school district is required.
