Havre Public Schools Education Foundation is Hiring an Elementary Special Education Teacher Near Havre, MT

**2024-25 Salary for 1st year teacher with no experience $41,410 up to $62,296 depending on education and experience**
SUMMARY: To provide special education programming/instruction favorable to student learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed for a good educational foundation, in accordance with each student's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Administers individual evaluations and writes diagnostic reports for referred students.
  • Participates in mandated special education meetings and/or procedures.
  • Plans, writes and implements Individual Education Programs (IEP) for identified students.
  • Develops lesson plans according to IEP goals and translates plan into appropriate learning experiences.
  • Provides individualized and group instruction to address individual student need.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning: appropriate to the age and interests of the students.
  • Collaborates with general education teachers and related service personnel in designing and implementing programming for special education students.
  • Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, completes and maintains appropriate records according to district policy/procedure.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior in accordance with the district=s approved behavior management program to achieve an effective teaching/learning atmosphere.
  • Communicates with parents outside the normal classroom day according to district requirements.
  • Possesses and utilizes technology skills to enhance classroom instruction, complete reports/documents, and engage in professional communication etc., as appropriate and/or as required by the district.
  • Supervises the work of paraprofessionals assigned to the area of special education.
  • Works with general and special education administration to determine instructional material needs and purchases
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Participates in professional development activities as required by the district and/or state.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students; paraprofessionals as assigned; volunteers; other approved individuals within the instructional area.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write reports, professional correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, students, staff, administration and the general public.Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Other Skills And AbilitiesAbility to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff and administration; skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and policies. Ability to operate technology equipment as provided by the district.
