OPTIMA Organizational Solutions is Hiring a Plant Operations Manager Near Hattiesburg, MS

Our client is the Industry Leader in Clean Energy Solutions and back up systems as well as small engines, they have requested us to search for an experienced Operations Manager for their machining manufacturing facility at the Hattiesburg MS Engines Campus.BASIC FUNCTIONResponsible for machining facility operations at the Hattiesburg Engines Campus. This will include the strategic planning in both capital and capacity planning, budget adherence, integration and control of the day-to-day activities and personnel actions to meet safety, quality, delivery, and financial objectives. This position will also work directly with Human resources to drive talent development within all levels of the operation to improve flexibility, stability, and growth of associates within the organization. This person must be a champion of continuous improvement and create a culture of operational excellence. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct and assist subordinates in supervising the activities of the machining departments in meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. 
  • Establish specific metrics by department for safety, quality, delivery and cost. Assure objectives are communicated and results posted for clear communication. 
  • Monitor and analyze production performance in the areas of safety, quality, cost objectives, major expenditures, and expense budgets. Take action as necessary to assure each objective is met. 
  • Directs the manufacture of all products in accordance with established design specifications, quality assurance standards, delivery schedules, and labor and materials standards to continually improve efficiency and economy of manufacturing operations. 
  • Plans, directs and coordinates work efforts of manufacturing plant and facilities to achieve efficient and effective operation, technical coordination, and insure the maximum utilization of all manufacturing personnel and facilities.
  • Reviews major problems with subordinates and takes all necessary action consistent with Group and Company Policy and procedures to resolve them.
  • Informs and consults with Director Operations – Hattiesburg on manufacturing problems or other adverse developments or conditions. 
  • Prepare monthly forecasts with emphasis on spending, standard direct labor input, I.M.E. rates, and meeting production schedule demands. 
  • Develop and administer effective maintenance and service organizations that will result in maintaining the facility in such a condition as to provide production and service groups with dependable low-cost engineering, maintenance, and sanitation services. 
  • Ensure that the duties and responsibilities of subordinates are clearly defined and communicated to them. Monitor performance and review results with people leaders on a regular basis, along with regular communication with the facility workforce. 
  • Communicate and drive consistency on all pertinent company policies on a timely basis and ensure that they are followed. 
  • Direct the formulation of operating objectives that support campus, division, and corporate objectives. 
  • Implement process improvement teams and initiatives to reduce inventory, remove non-value-added work, improve manufacturing flexibility, while also delivering processes and a culture of meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals on a year-over-year expectation. 
  • Directly supervises and coordinates the activities of Production Leaders, Functional Leaders and Manufacturing Engineers to develop and deliver solid processes and associate talent levels and knowledge to meet a world class operation. 
  • Ensure adherence to applicable product compliance requirements including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, California Code of Regulations and California Health and Safety Code. 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field. 
  • At least ten years of manufacturing management experience; 
  • Minimum three years of experience with engine or high-volume repetitive manufacturing involving operations of technical manufacturing nature. 
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certifications (preferred)
  • Effective coaching, facilitation, and team building skills.
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with plant personnel, cross-functional departments, outside contractors, and suppliers.
  • Must be effective working in a complex, ever-changing environment and work with a sense of urgency while maintaining quality and safety controls.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Ability to lead a team-based approach to making effective decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum guidance in a results driven environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrating the ability to get results through mentoring others, and growing the talent pool.
  • Strong technical & written/oral skills a must.
  • Must have good leadership skills with the ability to drive change and continuous improvement.
