HISPANIC HEALTH COUNCIL is Hiring a Parent Educator Near Hartford, CT

Job Description

The Parent Educator will serve as part of Youth Services. Under supervision, the parent educator works directly with families providing information to improve parenting leadership skills while also educating in child development. Works directly with caregivers in their homes, providing direct client contact. Provides comprehensive services to caregivers while implementing the Parents as Teachers curriculum. Facilitates family access to community resources and ensures families connect with the necessary tools to complete goals and measures. Frequently meets with team supervisor, reviewing data quality, reports, and review assessments. Performs related work as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and implements home visits using the Parents as Teachers Curriculum.
  • Lead families in developing a resource network, linking them to community resources.
  • Recruiting and retaining new participants through effective community outreach efforts in partnership with school administration.
  • Develop and lead monthly program activities and events.
  • Attend and participate in required team, agency, and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Ensure timely completion of all required data entry and adhere to confidentiality policies.
  • Assist in the facilitation of after-school program implementation.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

The hours of work are 35 per week. Required to travel to site locations.

This is a grant funded position. Position is contingent on grant funding

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of family-oriented program coordination
  • Knowledge of technical platforms (Microsoft Suite: Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Ability to plan and employ program initiatives
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work flexible work hours, including pre-scheduled nights and weekends
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Qualifications

 Associate’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, Social Services, Human Service or related field or two (2) years of experience providing education, social, or child development services to families.

  • Must be Bilingual - Spanish
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, Social Services, Human Service or a related field
  • Experience working with at-risk populations
