Selah Academy is Hiring a Teacher Near Harrisonburg, VA
Selah Academy is a Christ centered, literature rich, discovery-based school for 4, 5, and 6-year-olds.
Job Description: We are looking for a teacher who will act as a nurturer and guide. Weekly rhythms at Selah include food prep, spiritual formation through Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, walking downtown for field trips, art, music, nature play, sports, individual classroom play, group games, and reading children's books aloud. 8
A solid candidate would possess a love for and dedication to Jesus Christ, a love for and knowledge of children's rich literature, a love for children, and an understanding of play-based learning. Total working hours will range from 28-35 hours per week with student contact hours from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to Jesus Christ and the Christian faith
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Experience working with children
- Ability to communicate well with children and their parents
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of discovery-based / play-based learning
- Familiarity with a Montessori educational philosophy
- Familiarity with a Charlotte Mason philosophy of education
- Knowledge of children's rich literature
- Appreciation of sports, games, and the outdoors
- Appreciation for community engagement
- Conversive knowledge of Spanish
