Salary: $17.99-$18.35/hr DOE

POSITION SUMMARY:  Will be responsible for providing patients with a positive financial experience by helping patients navigate and understand their current insurance benefits and potential financial liability. Will be the point of contact for financial assistance questions including but not limited to payment plans, sliding fee discount program (SFDP), and collections activity. SFDP duties can include approval of applications, setup of slide in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), follow-up on incomplete, expired, or outstanding applications, and communication with patients regarding all aspects of the program. SFDP duties will also encompass an understanding of and compliance with the SFDP policy and procedures as well as working with financial and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) auditors to demonstrate One Health compliance with same.

COMPENSATION: $17.99-$18.35/hr DOE

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time (40 hours/week)

AVAILABILITY: Monday to Friday

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Educates patients on services offered at One Health directing patients to appropriate clinical and non-clinical resource areas as appropriate.
  2. Meets with patients both in-person and virtually to review patient questions and needs surrounding any financial concerns including but not limited to One Health bills, payment plans, SFDP, and collections.
  3. Assists patients to complete SFDP application for both initial application and renewals. Directs and educates patients on the supporting documentation needed to submit a completed application.
  4. Processes SFDP applications. Ensures all documentation and EHR data is completed in all appropriate and applicable household member patient charts that meet Federal Poverty Level (FPL) requirements and are listed on the application. Communicates with applicants regarding processed applications, incomplete applications, and outstanding document needs.
  5. Participates in reporting and auditing of SFDP.
  6. Possesses an understanding of the SFDP and Collections policy and procedures and their application to One Health. Able to assist staff across the organization with questions related to SFDP and Collections policies.
  7. Answers any questions patients may have about their billing statements and service.
  8. Acts as a financial counselor for patients with outstanding balances including but not limited to establishing payment plans and processing payments.
  9. Active liaison for patients to connect with the One Health CHA team, in-person or virtually, to apply for marketplace coverage, insurance, third party coverage, or government programs or other social programs as appropriate.
  10. Identifies past due patient accounts and contacts guarantors to establish payment plans, offers enrollment in the sliding fee program, hardship if appropriate, or identifies other issues impeding collections.
  11. Generates warning letters and collection letters by following organizational policy. Then processes accounts for submission to collection agencies.
  12. Processes employee and employee discount EHR data.
  13. Processes appropriate monthly invoices for submission to supervisor.
  14. Participates as part of a team to meet patient needs and organizational demands. Uses effective communication and collaboration across all platforms to support the mission of the organization.
  15. Manages confidential and sensitive information and data to comply with organizational policy and HIPAA guidelines. This may include patient information such as medical records, verification of employment, income verification, bank information, and a release of patient records.
  16. Participates in performance optimization and risk management activities as required.
  17. Adheres to all One Health Policies and Procedures.
  18. Cooperates and abides by all elements of One Health’s Compliance Program.
  19. Provides exceptional customer service and models the mission of One Health when interacting with internal and external stakeholders promoting a positive image for the health center.
  20. Other duties may be assigned as required or needed with or without prior notification.
