POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Data Scientist with computer science skills who can support the development of robust, scalable projects. This position requires communicating with non-technical stakeholders to model problems, propose and implement solutions. The position’s level will be commensurate with skills and experience.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Deliver results of mathematical modeling and complex data science projects to non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficient in Python, including base Python, NumPy, pandas, PySpark, and scikit-learn
  • Capable of writing clear, high-level documentation for projects
  • Able to independently manage small to medium-sized projects
  • Proficient in project scoping and requirements definition
  • Skilled in efficiently retrieving data and prototyping solutions
  • Actively engage with stakeholders to gather feedback and strategically incorporating their unput to achieve business-aligned outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies and tools as needed
  • Thorough understanding of relational databases
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of ETL pipelines
  • Ability to write code that is readable, extensible, modular
  • Understanding of the concepts behind optimizing computational efficiency, including considerations for both time and space
  • Familiarity with cloud computing (AWS preferred)
  • Solid understanding of and willingness to do data gathering/data cleaning
  • Implement a variety of machine learning algorithms, including regression, classification, and clustering techniques
  • Possesses a solid understanding of optimization algorithms
  • Translate conceptual ideas from everyday vernacular descriptions into mathematical models

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (computer science, statistics, mathematics, or physics preferred)
  • 5 years’ experience in data science and/or analytics
