Recruiting Clinical Psychologist for HackensackUniversity Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ

The Neuroscience Program for the Northern Region of Hackensack Meridianis experiencing rapid growth and psychologists are an essential component ofpatient care delivery. Psychologists work alongside neurologists,neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, and other specialists to provide comprehensiveand compassionate care for individuals with complex neurologicalconditions. We are currently looking for a clinical psychologist with specialtyfocus in health psychology to join our team.

The ideal candidate should have a doctorate in clinical psychology withclinical/counseling or health psychology concentration preferred.Completion of a relevant postdoctoral fellowship (i.e., health psychology,clinical/counseling, neuropsychology) required. Specific training andcompetency in cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapypreferred, with competency in other treatment modalities/approaches.Competence in health psychology with focus on neurologic populations,including but not limited to those with history of MS, stroke, memoryconcerns, movement disorders, headache and chronic pain.

Prospective applicants are required to hold a valid psychologist license in thestate of New Jersey. Additionally, candidates who have not yet obtained boardcertification in health psychology, or a related field such as clinical orcounseling psychology, are expected to acquire this certification within 5years of their hire date.

The candidate should have demonstrate proficiency in treatmentinterventions: conduct both individual and group counseling as related tohealth psychology goals for patients with neurologic diagnoses;develop/generate treatment plans according to patient needs/goals andwrites progress reports in a timely fashion.

The incumbent will be expected to work within interdisciplinary teams,supervise predoctoral students and postdoctoral fellows, assist in developingnew programs, and collaborate on ongoing research. Development of anindependently funded research program is supported but not required.

The Center espouse an interprofessional approach in which geriatricians,neurologists, social workers, rehab therapists, neuro- & rehabilitationpsychologists & dietitians, who are cognizant of health care disparities striveto deliver patient-centered care, accurate diagnoses, state-of-the-arttreatment, opportunities for clinical trial participation, to maximizecommunity living & prevent caregiver burn-out.

Hackensack Meridian Health’s Neuroscience Institute is a leader in thediagnosis and treatment of brain, spine and nerve disorders and renownedfor its research to advance the treatment of traumatic brain injury, stroke,brain tumors and Alzheimer’s disease. The have an ACGME-accreditedNeurology Residency Program and were the first in the region to have a state-designated Comprehensive Stroke Center. Neurology and Neurosurgeryservices include Center for Sleep Mdicine, Level 4 Epilepsy Center,Neuropyschology Department, Movement Disorders Center, Vascular andEndovascular Neuorsurgery, Headche Center, MS Center, Neuro-oncology,Neurological Rehab, Cranial Base Surgery and Spine Care.
