Job description
Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens from patients
- Label and properly store collected specimens for laboratory testing
- Verify patient information and maintain accurate records of collected samples
- Follow established laboratory procedures and protocols for specimen handling and processing
- Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during the phlebotomy process
- Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines in the laboratory setting
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy area
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
- Certification as a phlebotomist is preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures
- Familiarity with medical terminology and specimen collection processes
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
- Proficient in using computer systems for data entry and record keeping
