First Baptist Greenville is Hiring a Director of Communications Near Greenville, SC

Join our team at First Baptist Greenville as the Director of Communications, where you'll collaborate with the Senior Minister and staff to manage both internal and external communications across various platforms. Your role will involve overseeing churchwide event announcements, designing and distributing newsletters, managing social media accounts, and creating compelling promotional materials. You'll ensure a consistent visual identity for the church, negotiate advertising contracts, and continuously improve our website design and functionality. Responsibilities:

Internal (Congregational) Communications:

  • Oversee communication of all churchwide events and news through various channels such as the church newsletter, digital signage, website, and email.
  • Support church ministries by creating communication pieces as needed.
  • Design, produce, and distribute recurring communication pieces, including congregational emails and church newsletters.
  • Supervise communication hubs located throughout the church, ensuring up-to-date and relevant materials.
  • Manage photographs capturing the life of the church for display in facilities and online platforms.

External (Community) Communications:

  • Create exterior banners and signage for special events, Sunday worship, and liturgical seasons.
  • Design and produce promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and postcards for special events.
  • Publicize church events in the community through press releases and online calendars.
  • Negotiate advertising contracts and design ads for distribution.

Branding:

  • Manage church branding to ensure a consistent visual identity across all communications.
  • Oversee branding development for sermon series, events/conferences, and other needs as requested.

Digital Management:

  • Continually improve the functionality and design of the church website, including content management and updates.
  • Manage and update social media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram on a regular basis.
  • Oversee the creation of videos used to tell stories and ensure appropriate messaging and representation of the church.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • Previous experience in communications or marketing roles, preferably in a non-profit or religious organization.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software and content management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff members and volunteers.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
