ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Position Summary
Inputs, maintains, and views data from different computer systems and applications associated with assigned area Performs clerical duties for assigned area. Interacts with patients, family members, physicians, and staff members. Operates all equipment in assigned area
Responsibilities
Inputs, maintains, and views data from different computer systems and applications associated with assigned area. Enters orders for patient procedures. Tracks and maintains location of patient's films. Views report status. Responsible for sending reports through computer to physicians, hospitals, etc. Orders supplies for areas. Monitors status of system. Prints schedules for areas. Schedules patients for imaging procedures
Answers telephone and assists callers with information. Places telephone calls for physicians and staff. Receives and delivers data to staff. Reviews orders, reports, etc for information pertaining to procedure. Copies, sorts, maintains, and distributes data, reports, films etc . Maintains supplies for area. Maintains logs/records as needed for area
Demonstrates appropriate caring behavior in the workplace treating patients, their families, visitors, and staff with respect and dignity. Greets patients and family members arriving in Radiology Services. Assist physicians, staff, etc in locating films, records, patients, etc. Release films, records, etc to patients, family members, physicians, etc
Knowledge and proficiency in operation of file system and viewers, fax machines, copiers, addressograph, telephone, film digitizer, paper shredder, etc. Follows correct procedure for use of equipment. Maintains logs of equipment usage as needed. Calls for repair of equipment if needed. Knowledge and proficiency in operation of information systems used in assigned area
Minimum Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent (GED) or higher degree required
Computer knowledge; knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
Good interpersonal skills and ability to articulate well
3 months to 1 year experience required.
