Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field, or Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering) with 0-2 years of experience working in a laboratory setting; OR
  • Associate’s degree in chemistry or related field with 1-3 years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Outstanding Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

About Your Role

The Laboratory Technician will provide support to the Research and Quality department in the industries of deicing and unpaved road stabilization. While working with the Vice President of Applied Technologies, the Lab Technician I assist in developing new products and processes that fulfill the strategic growth needs of the company. This position will conduct analysis on production samples and on incoming raw materials, so data is generated for reports for the Quality Assurance Specialist II. The Technician will also be responsible for writing various documents for product development. This position will also require technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments. The Technician will be responsible for organizing and storing all laboratory substances according to appropriate laboratory protocols as well as performing routine maintenance, cleaning and calibration of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Assist with other duties as assigned.

  • Works with the Vice President of Applied Technologies to develop new products and processes for the unpaved road stabilization and deicing industries that fulfill the strategic growth needs of the company.
  • Works with the Quality Assurance Specialist II to conduct analyses of production samples and incoming raw materials.
  • Interprets data from research and quality tests and generates data reports for review with lab team.
  • Organizes and stores all laboratory substances, and performs routine maintenance, cleaning and calibration of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Write and review technical reports, summaries, protocols, test methods, standard operating procedures, and other documents for research & quality.
  • Conducts computer-based research of various technologies at the direction of the Vice President of Applied Technologies and Quality Assurance Specialist II.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The position does not have any regular responsibility for overseeing or supervising the work of other team members.

Working Conditions

  • The work environment is the typical laboratory environment. The employee must complete their work satisfactorily in an environment where there are significant distractions, including staff, clients, and vendors walking through and conversing, telephones ringing, conversations carrying over, loud noises, and interruptions to answer questions from others. This position may be exposed to chemicals, extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, and wind.

  • May be required to work irregular hours, nights and weekends or holidays and may be required to work on-call activities.
