Verify customer requirements by reviewing specifications book

Having the ability to identify Exception codes and use the proper packing supplies

Must be able to print labels at the Packaging Station and how to verify the roll data for each finished roll coming off the conveyors

Troubleshoot the Uteco and XS13 conveying system

Operate the crane in a safe and controlled manner

Enter data into the computer at the Packing Station and at the Stretch-Wrapping Station

Must be able to operate the Stretch-Wrapper in both Automatic and Manual to include the manual wrapper used for Vertical rolls

Must be able to weigh the finished pallet and to properly apply label to pallet verifying data

Maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment

Interact and communicate with fellow packers, production supervisor, lead technician, and slitting technicians as required

Ability to operate a forklift and to stack material using a forklift

Assist in any function of the Slitting Department as requested by your lead operator and / or supervisor

Responsibilities / Duties

The Packaging Technician is responsible for the proper identification of slit rolls and to ensure each roll is packed and labeled according to the customer specifications.

They are also responsible for the proper use of packaging equipment, the preventive maintenance, and housekeeping of the equipment and the area.

Self-motivated and the ability to plan ahead

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED

Ability to bend, stoop, and lift continuously

Fork Truck Certified (preferred)

Ability to lift 50lbs.

Basic computer knowledge

Safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel toe shoes is required on all jobs

Work on a specified 12 hour shift must be able and willing to work overtime on an as needed basis
