Position Summary: The Shop Manager is pivotal in managing the fleet to uphold deliveries and distributions on schedule within an established budget. This role necessitates comprehensive experience and proficiency in fleet maintenance involving Class 8 Trucks and Van Trailers, mechanical systems, and various software programs to monitor both fleets and drivers. This role will necessitate travel to all locations in the Road Runner Freight system, collaborating extensively with a variety of operational roles, vendors, and drivers, aiming to optimize fleet performance and adherence to compliance standards. Responsibilities: Hiring, training, and development of mechanical staff. Maintain efficient productivity levels. Ensuring shop stays in compliance with set budget. Oversight of satellite locations with a small hourly staff. Managing parts inventory. General maintenance and repairs on company trailers. Enforce & practice all company safety procedures to ensure a safe environment. Follow all D.O.T. and OSHA safety standards. 10 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or trailer maintenance technician. Strong knowledge of trailer systems, including brakes, suspension, tires, lights, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems. Job Requirements: 3 – 5 years of industry knowledge and experience working on tractors, trailers, and forklifts. 3 – 5 years of management or supervisory experience. Strong technical and communication skills. Ability to work in and develop a team atmosphere. Experience and understanding of working within a budget. Strong knowledge of Class 8 truck & trailer repair. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PPT. Understanding of maintenance support software (examples: M5, TMT, Dossier, etc.) is required. Knowledge of project management techniques and tools. Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and be detail-oriented and well-organized. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, CARB, and other governing regulations and requirements.
