The Dean of Students will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and inclusive school environment, supporting student success, and ensuring a safe and respectful school climate. Under the supervision of the building principal, the Dean of Students will provide student social, emotional, behavioral and/or academic support. The ideal candidate will have passion for student development, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to the mission and values of our school district.

Qualifications:

· MN Teaching License

· A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience

· Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

· Team player

· Possess a high level of writing, speaking, listening and conflict resolution skills;

· Preference may be given to candidates possessing administrative license or interested in exploring the administrative side of education.

Position Specific Responsibilities:

· Provide a safe, nurturing and cooperative learning environment where children discover their personal and academic strengths

· Cultivate a sense of respect and responsibility

· Create a sense of social awareness and a social bridge to the broader community

· Provide a curriculum that leads each child to educational success and closes the achievement gap

· Instill self-esteem, confidence and a positive attitude in every child

· Establish and enforce policies and procedures related to student behavior and discipline

· Establish and enforce policies and procedures related to student behavior and discipline, with a specific focus on district-wide bus discipline

· Conduct investigations into student misconduct on school buses and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions.

· Address disciplinary issues in a fair and consistent manner

· Support implementation of a fun, safe and healthy learning environment for all students and staff

• Maintain a classroom presence to support student positive behaviors and student learning
• Support teachers in managing student behaviors and a positive classroom culture
• Create positive relationships with all students
• Support students emotionally to further their learning
• Support a structured and calm lunchroom
• Reinforce positive student behaviors in classrooms, hallways and throughout the building
• Administer student consequences in conjunction with School leader
• Support School leader and classroom teachers with any student behavior plans
• Communicate with parents as needed about their student’s behavior
• Enter behavior data, as needed
• Serve on district teams such as TAT and Child Study
