GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

As an essential member of the radiation oncology team, the dosimetrist at our Award Winning Client is adept in understanding the comprehensive characteristics and clinical importance of radiation treatment machines and equipment. This role is knowledgeable in brachytherapy procedures, generating precise radiation dose distributions and calculations in collaboration with the Medical Physicist and Radiation Oncologist, drawing from their education and expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate from a formally structured hospital or college-affiliated medical dosimetry program that includes clinical and classroom curriculum, plus other training or experience in medical dosimetry totaling at least 18 months, OR
  • Holds a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with a major in physical or biological sciences or is a registered Radiation Therapist, along with two or more years of on-the-job training and experience in medical dosimetry under the guidance of a Certified Medical Dosimetrist or Medical Physicist, OR
  • Possesses an Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts, or Bachelor of Science degree in a field other than physical or biological sciences, with on-the-job training in medical dosimetry under the supervision of a Certified Medical Dosimetrist or Medical Physicist, and a minimum of 4 years of supervised experience in medical dosimetry.

Compliance:

  • Must adhere to existing national and state regulations and institutional policies related to practicing medical dosimetry in Colorado.

Skills:

  • Proficient understanding of the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to create computerized treatment plans, and able to communicate these plans to the Radiation Oncologist for revision and approval, and to the Radiation Therapist for implementation.
  • Capable of performing routine duties independently while consulting with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist as needed.
  • Skilled in operating and performing quality assurance on the treatment planning computer under the direction of the Medical Physicist.
  • Knowledgeable about radiation safety and current regulations pertaining to radiation therapy.
  • Able to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols.
  • Possesses strong mathematical skills, including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and introductory calculus, with the ability to visualize objects in three-dimensional concepts to aid in the treatment planning process.

Experience:

  • 5 years of relevant experience.

CANDIDATE DETAILS:

Candidates should have over 5 years of experience in a related field, with an associate's degree being the minimum educational requirement. While management experience is not necessary, a seniority level of other is expected. Candidates should be prepared to work onsite and never travel.
