Responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the hospital in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, in keeping with the goals and objectives of the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, develops, organizes and evaluates the hospital's finances.
  • Participates in the development of the hospital's business strategies and initiatives.
  • Evaluates and advises the CEO and administrative team of the impact of long and short range planning, changes in hospital programs or strategies, and regulatory interaction.
  • Enhances and develops, implements and enforces policies and procedures by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the hospital.
  • Achieves continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.
  • Coordinates with Patient Accounts to develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism.
  • Oversees Registration, Health Information Management, and Patient Accounts in the continual improvement of the timeliness and accuracy of the hospital's cash flow and management of the A/R process.
  • Oversees the negotiation of managed care contracts.
  • Manages the A/P process.
  • Provides leadership, including performance management and selection of new staff, to the areas of Finance, and Information Systems. Evaluates departmental structure, planning continual improvement of the effectiveness of systems and development of individuals.
  • Takes administrative call. Participates in assuming administrative responsibilities of facility in absence of CEO.
  • Participates on committees and boards, including Governing Board and MEC, as required.
  • Maintains professional affiliations and continues professional growth and development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Sufficient commensurate managerial and financial experience in a hospital setting
  • CPR is not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of billing and GL software and spreadsheets
  • Advanced math and logic skills
  • Able to project appropriate professional image and ethical standards
  • Able to establish priorities and take the initiative to ensure that goals are accomplished
  • Demonstrated effective leadership abilities
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to accept a heavy workload
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment including stress associated with multiple demands
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands for working with required equipment
  • Able to receive and express detailed information through oral communication, visual acuity, and the ability to read and understand written directions
