Our client (a leading Engineering, Procurement, and Construction [EPC] company specializing in developing, designing, constructing, commissioning, and operating large-scale power projects) seeks a highly organized, self-driven Cost Accountant to join their finance team.

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the ideal candidate will deliver high-quality work under regimented time constraints, expand their knowledge of systems, processes, and guidelines, and strive for self-improvement.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for job cost reporting, forecasting, and administration.
• Analysis of budget variances and other necessary analyses.
• Preparation of quarterly forecasting reports.
• Preparation of various journal entries to support the monthly financial close.
• Reconciliation of various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Record keeping of monthly close documentation.
• Review of processes and procedures for improvement.
• Periodic site visits to support finance initiatives.
• Preparation of work papers to support quarter-end and year-end requirements.
• Coordination with external auditors.
• Documentation and updating of the Cost Accountant process manual.
• Documentation of financial process flow charts.
• Effective communication with other accountants, supervisors, managers, and project teams.
• Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement process improvements.
• Perform other work-related tasks as needed or assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; public accounting experience of 4 years or equivalent corporate accounting experience. CPA is a plus.
• Detailed working knowledge of Microsoft O365 suite, especially Excel. Experience with Sage 300 preferred. Microsoft PowerBi is also a plus.
• Highly motivated and self-directed with initiative and a sense of urgency to get things done.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
• High level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Ability to work under pressure on multiple deliverables.
• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to plan and prioritize work.
• Occasional travel to project sites.
