Description

We employ hard-working, dedicated, caring team members who are committed to excellence and empowering children and families through therapy, education, and prevention-based care. 

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the CTSHEALTH Foster Care and Administration buildings. They will work alongside the Office Manager to provide a safe and pleasant environment for occupants and visitors. The individual may occasionally go to other CTSHEALTH offices as necessary.

This job description is a record of the essential functions of the listed job. Jobs are always changing to some degree and the existence of the approved job description is not intended to limit normal change and growth.

Custodian Responsibilities

· Cleaning and Sanitizing:

o Perform cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and scrubbing, to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.

o Disinfect surfaces, equipment, and high-touch areas to prevent the spread of germs and viruses.

o Maintain cleanliness of common areas, including lobbies, hallways, and break rooms 

· Waste Management:

o Empty trash cans and recycling bins, and dispose of waste in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

o Replace trash can liners and ensure proper waste separation.

· Restroom Maintenance:

o Clean and sanitize restroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures.

o Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.

· Floor Care:

o Clean and maintain various types of flooring, including carpets, tiles, and hardwood.

o Use appropriate cleaning methods and equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and polishers.

· Window and Glass Cleaning:

o Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions and tools.

o Remove streaks and smudges for a clear and polished appearance.

· Supply Management:

o Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, including chemicals, cleaning agents, and equipment, as needed.

o Report inventory levels and request replenishment as necessary.

· Maintenance and Repairs:

o Identify and report maintenance and repair needs, such as broken fixtures, leaky faucets, or burnt-out light bulbs.

o Perform minor repairs or inform the appropriate maintenance personnel.

· Safety and Security:

o Ensure the safety and security of the facility by promptly addressing potential hazards, such as spills or loose cords.

o Lock and secure doors and windows as required.

· Compliance:

o Follow established cleaning protocols, safety guidelines, and industry-specific regulations.

o Adhere to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling cleaning chemicals.

· Communication:

o Report any issues, incidents, or concerns to supervisor.

o Communicate and coordinate with other cleaning staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.

· Other responsibilities assigned by supervisor as needed.

Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Proven experience in cleaning and maintenance.

· Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and products.

· Attention to detail and the ability to maintain cleanliness and order.

· Physical fitness and stamina for performing physically demanding tasks.

· Maintain valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

· Good time management and organization skills.

· Basic understanding of safety protocols and the ability to follow them.

· Excellent communication skills and a cooperative attitude.

· Ability to travel to and complete additional assigned projects at all regional offices as requested.
