Position Summary:
We need an experienced Commercial Buyer – Metals Trading to work at its Gary, IN facility.
The Commercial Buyer will be responsible for all aspects of the purchase and sale of scrap metal at the location.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Managed the purchase and sale of ferrous scrap metal at the Client’s Gary, IN location.
Solidify existing relationships with scrap metal suppliers and customers.
Develop new relationships with scrap metal suppliers and customers.
Work with the Client operations team to ensure the timely and efficient processing of scrap metals at the location.
Conduct market research to identify trends, pricing structures, and potential business opportunities.
Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and other terms for the purchase and sale of ferrous scrap metal to maximize profitability and foster long-term relationships.
Monitor and assess risks associated with scrap metal trading and develop strategies to protect against those risks.
Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
Knowledge of scrap metal grades and industry quality/grading standards by grade.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Strong understanding of market trends and dynamics.
Preferred Education/Experience:
Extensive professional network of scrap metal suppliers and customers.
Proven management experience within the scrap metal industry.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or another related field.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong quantitative and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Compensation:
A competitive salary is negotiable following the successful selection process.
The compensation package includes comprehensive benefits.
