NAC Mechanical Services is Hiring an IT Administrator Near Gaithersburg, MD

Summary of Position

The IT Administrator is responsible for the effective operation of IT services and support across NAC. They serve as the first point of contact for technical expertise for the deployment, implementation, management, and support of systems and networks. The IT Administrator plans and carries out complex assignments and develops new methods and approaches in a variety of IT specialties. They evaluate new and enhanced approaches to deliver IT services; test and optimize the functionality of systems, networks, and data; and define technical requirements. The IT Administrator is responsible for providing various forms of computer-related technical assistance and improving the efficiency of the work of staff with technology.

Essential Functions

  • Operational support – Provide service to end users with a variety of technical needs and questions. Resolve hardware and software issues without outside input. Knowledge of operation and maintenance of Windows operating systems from Windows 10 and newer. Configuration of Windows Server operating systems.
  • Maintenance support – Complete regular maintenance tasks monthly. Complete server, MACD user, MACD computer, and MACD mobile device checklists.
  • Security support – Enforce IT security policies and be able to explain the value of those policies to users. Identify security problems and resolve them before they become incidents. Respond appropriately to security incidents to limit spread and mitigate risk. Participate in simulated security incidents to enhance readiness.
  • Project support – Act as a lead and resource for various IT projects, as required. Manage on site vendors as they troubleshoot our needs and network topology.
  • Training support – Provide end user training, as necessary. Prepare and lead training sessions with users. Create and keep up to date user documentation for various topics.
  • Seek out and review manufacturer and developer documentation for guidance in resolving tickets or seeking out best practices.
  • Document work completed to resolve user issues with time reporting. Generate and update internal documentation of policies and procedures. Keep user documentation sources up to date to simplify use of documentation sources.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities to stay current on available IT solutions.
  • Lifting or moving up to 40 lbs may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics (KSAPCs)

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • A curiosity to determine how systems work together.
  • Proactive in resolving issues before items break.
  • Ability to multitask and triage competing goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to provide guidance, instruction, and training for others.
  • Knowledge of some or all of the following: PowerShell scripting, Python scripting, SQL and database administration, Power Platform, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm. A few after-hours calls a month should be expected.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Experience

  • Entry- to mid-level IT certificates awarded by an industry-recognized provider.
  • Three to five years of hardware and software support.
