Cooperation Fund is Hiring a Collections Technician Near Gainesville, GA
RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Bag emergent flowers and perform hybridizations as directed
- Collect pollen, seed, leaf tissue, and herbarium vouchers
- Maintain detailed records of all collections according to standard operating procedures
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable
- Enrolled in a college, technical, or university program majoring in Plant Biology, Biology, or similar OR a holds a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology, Biology, or related field and has graduated in the last four years
- Minimum of one year of technical greenhouse, nursery, or seed laboratory experience is preferred
- Prior experience with artificial hybridizations, seed, or pollen collection is preferred
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and good driving record
- Ability to spend long periods of time working outside in Georgia working in a wide range of weather and temperature extremes
- Ability to take careful notes and improve project organization
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to effectively respond to multiple, changing and often conflicting priorities is essential
- Must be able to effectively interact with the general public and co-workers and peer professionals
