Full-time, entry-level Software Engineer I position available on-site in Gainesville, Florida

Description

Be part of a fast-paced team within the IT department that develops, documents, tests, and maintains a wide array of software including web, mobile, and desktop customer -facing applications, along with internal server, desktop, and web systems to support our exam-prep products. 

Responsibilities

Our projects vary widely in scope and technology, but essentially you will be doing these types of tasks on a day-to-day basis:

  • Maintain and improve the functionality of existing software and products.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation
  • Work on defined features from senior software developers
  • Provide rapid iteration/support/fixes for customer-facing issues
  • Complete frontend and backend development tasks with minimal oversight

Skills and Proficiencies

  • Proficiency with general software development principles
  • Understanding of common software design patterns
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work closely with team members
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization or degree or work experience equivalency
  • Experience with Linux a plus
  • PHP, JavaScript, C
  • Experience with version control systems / Git workflow
