Valle Vista Health System features individual units for adolescents and adults, and offers inpatient acute care, and variety of outpatient services at multiple locations. On average, over 10,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Valle Vista Health System. Position SummaryThe Nursing Educator is responsible for assisting the CNO in evaluating; reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN/LVN/MHT staff required training. Provides training to the clinical team and non-clinical teams as appropriate. Also provides, on as-needed basis, patient nursing assessments. Participates in Treatment Team meetings as needed. This is not a remote position.
The Job Responsibilities Also Include
  • Being a back-up to the CNO
  • Being on call, in the absence of the CNO
  • Will manage staffing, call-ins, adjust unit acuity, in the absence of the CNO
  • Manage RN performance, in the absence of the CNO
  • As necessary, may work the floor with other nurses on the units

Requirements Qualifications Education: Graduate from an accredited program in nursing. Master’s Level preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years direct clinical experience preferred in a psychiatric or mental health setting, with direct experience in staff education, nursing practices, patient assessments, education concepts, practices and procedures.
Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing.
Additional Requirements: Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, restraint and seclusion, and ability to prepare and present training events as directed for Nursing Services. Completion of training in HWC/Verbal De-Escalation and CPR within 30 days of employment. May be required to work occasional weekends and/or other hours; conduct weekend training as needed.
