Job Title: Regional Safety Manager

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in administrative skills, including word processing; editing documents including proofreading, grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, accuracy, clarity and syntax, attention to detail and format; filing and record keeping.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and assume responsibility for department projects and action items from inception to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and analyze problems and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and good judgment in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Ability to independently process, review, verify, and track action items to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Willingness to take initiative and provide support wherever it is needed.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees, managers, external contacts, and visitors, including professional consultants and auditors.
  • Ability to travel to area satellite offices, projects, and jobsites required. (Company vehicle provided).
  • Advocate and drive employee engagement and participation as it relates to safety.
  • Inspections, Consulting, and Coaching
    • Conduct regular field and project safety and health inspections,
    • Ensure statutes, regulations, and codes are clearly understood and met
    • Intervene to stop any acts or processes which are unsafe or do not comply with Company Safety guidelines
    • Implement preventative measures to ensure unsafe processes are not repeated
    • Ensure all personnel follow all personal safety precautions (hardhats, protective glasses, etc.)
    • Maintain an inspection log and a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution. Coordinate unresolved safety and health deficiencies with management for timely correction.
  • Conduct mishap investigations, including all injury, and vehicle incidents. Report and coordinate with Corporate Safety support.
  • Manage and ensure all work-related incidents / accidents are added to log on company’s system, and initial notifications are saved to incident folders.
  • Attend Safety Team Meetings

Job Specifications (incl. Education requirements, minimal experience, computer skills required, etc.)

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years’ experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs with particular emphasis on organizing, facilitating, and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Experience in a multi-department administrative support role preferred
  • Experience in administrative support with particular emphasis on organizing and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other rules and regulations pertaining to the facility and operations as necessary.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Products - Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
