Job DescriptionDescription: The Communications Specialist will be responsible for creating internal and external department communications, to include written stories, videos, media pitches, newsletters, emails, online content, announcements, and events. This person will also be responsible for ensuring that information created by the Communications department represents the standards and values of the Network and is appropriately branded and tailored to our diverse audiences of patients, team members and community members.
Typical Duties
  • Writes, edits and creates internal and external communications in various media on all platforms.
  • Works with internal customers to re-purpose and amplify messages and stories for website and media.
  • Writes media materials including media pitches, key messages and social media posts.
  • Coordinates information gathering and writing for publications, such as newsletters, emails, online content, announcements, and events.
  • Works with department team members to coordinate internal and external communications projects and promotional campaigns, etc.
  • Collaborate with departmental communicators, employee engagement teams, and other operational teams to produce engaging and informative content for employees.
  • Contributes to and enhances the professionalism of internal and external communications.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and JPS policies regarding patient privacy.
  • Responds during on-call situations during emergency code activations and news media situations.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Business Communications, Public Relations, Communications or another relevant degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • 3 plus years of experience creating content for publication, from concept through delivery.
  • 2 plus years of experience on a team (s) in a professional environment
