Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or a related area OR a minimum of two (2) years proven work experience;
  • Valid Florida driver's license;
  • Proven knowledge and ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software in computing systems;
  • Must be a proactive, independent worker with good communication skills necessary to interact with a technical and non-technical audience;
  • Ability to interact effectively and positively with administration on a regular basis;
  • Excellent organizational skills and an aptitude for analytical and detailed work.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Assembling, configuring, and testing network work stations;
  • Controlling inventory levels by enforcing the use of standard processes, conducting physical counts, and supporting technology audits;
  • Working with vendors to schedule repair, maintenance or other requested services;
  • Auditing hardware inventories for accuracy;
  • Supporting the asset management life cycle of information technology hardware and/or software assets throughout the organization;
  • Maintaining and monitoring hardware/software inventory in the asset tracking tool to ensure compliance;
  • Developing and maintaining procedures to support accurate and cost-effective IT asset management for the organization;
  • Maintaining documentation related to specialized procedures, applications, or system configurations;
  • Maintaining accurate and timely inventory of hardware and software assets within Service Desk; and
  • Maintaining current knowledge of the Information Technology Services field by attending seminars or workshops, completing courses or reading current literature.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining receiving, warehousing, and supporting distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing processes and procedures;
  • Maintaining Asset Management files and inventory documents in accordance with IT Operation's processes;
  • Maintaining an organized, neat and clean warehouse, stockroom, and office environment at all times;
  • Organizing and maintaining technology equipment stored in the warehouses and stockrooms;
  • Pulling stock and/or new items to stage the parts list for upcoming installations;
  • Identifying areas for cost savings through the identification of unallocated equipment, alternative support options, rationalization and hardware deployment practices;
  • Tracking software entitlement in support of refresh as well as end of life processes and projects; investigate and resolve discrepancies to maintain integrity of software asset data;
  • Identifying and recommending hardware and software that has the potential to be harvested or replaced with lower cost alternatives;
  • Identifying and reporting on potential issues with asset tracking tool, supporting systems and inputs; develop and maintain related program and process documentation;
  • Receiving and evaluating new and returned technology equipment, assigns asset tags as required, tests for damage and proper operation, and ensures all equipment is updated in the inventory and asset management system; and
  • Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety procedures while employed by the College.
