Dragonfly Pond Works is Hiring an Equipment operator Near Fort Myers, FL

Dragonfly Pond Works is a leading environmental service company specializing in stormwater management. Since 2006, Dragonfly has provided routine maintenance and repairs on stormwater devices, lakes, ponds, wetlands, and underground facilities.

This role is integral to the smooth and profitable execution of work performed by Dragonfly Pond Works.

Role and Responsibilities

Working under the supervision of the Crew Leader, the Technician is responsible for completing all assigned project work as part of the team.

This position is a physically demanding field-based position that requires critical thinking, teamwork, and an emphasis on safety.

While each project is different, the Technician's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Mowing, string trimming, pruning stormwater ponds
  • Light duty maintenance repairs
  • Frequent use of slope mowers, string trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and hand tools
  • General use of mini-excavator, skid steer, and corresponding attachments
  • Perform manual labor tasks with hand tools as needed
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Complete repairs and maintenance on ponds, lakes, and other stormwater control measures, including : Turf establishment, mowing, planting, invasive plant treatment or removal, hand or machine excavation, grading, erosion repairs, tree removal, and site stabilization
  • Load and unload heavy equipment and planting materials from trucks
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor to ensure successful job completion
  • Monitor site activities of coworkers and lead by example to encourage maximum productivity and safe work practices
  • Attend and participate in crew and department general and safety meetings
  • Safe driving of company-owned vehicles trucks (with or without trailers)
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Underpinnings of Success

  • Background and experience in lake / pond maintenance, landscaping, commercial mowing, erosion control, stormwater control measure maintenance, and repair
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds on a routine basis
  • Ability to regularly work on slopes, around water, and in variable weather conditions
  • Ability to work around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns, and other environmental risks
  • Must practice safety with chemicals and equipment
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to motivate others
  • Must comply with Dragonfly's policies and procedures
  • Possesses core values compatible with those of Dragonfly Pond Works (Quality Focus, Take Ownership, Growth Oriented)
