FORT CAMPBELL, KY

FAMILY ADVOCACY SUPPORT SERVICES (FASS)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current / Active Secret level Clearance required prior to hire.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, marriage, Family, and child counseling, counseling or behavioral science, education, community health or public health.
  • Certified by the National Advocate Credentialing Program within a year of hire.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in working with a military or civilian social service agency serving military Families.
  • Thorough knowledge of Family violence dynamics, trauma informed advocacy services, environmental stressors, safety planning, risk assessments, local community resources, and federal and state laws pertaining to domestic abuse, Family law and the Victim Rights Bill.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with victims, develop trusting helping relationships, and work effectively with individuals and Families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to independently to assess risk, develop, implement, and evaluate safety and intervention plans to meet victim needs.
  • Possess effective public speaking skills and ability to communicate effectively while conducting briefings to small and large groups of civilians, Soldiers and Commanders.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with military and civilian medical, social service, law enforcement, and legal personnel on behalf of victims.
  • Maintain a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license and have transportation.
  • Be physically and mentally able to perform all contractual duties, which may include transporting, lifting, and setting up displays, and standing and walking during activities that involve domestic abuse prevention and response.

SCOPE

  • Provide initial victim advocacy services to victims of domestic abuse who contact the office, refer or arrange appropriate services and provide emotional support to the victims.
  • Provide education classes, initial intake, community linkages, crisis intervention, safety plans, case management, including office visits.
  • Conduct briefings to large and small groups of Soldiers, Civilians, and Commanders.
  • Maintain confidentiality of services aligned with victim reporting preferences.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of public awareness and annual FAP related campaigns, as appropriate.
  • Operate within established guidelines of the FAP and Domestic Abuse Victim Advocacy Program (DAVAP).
  • Develop and disseminate resource material.

DUTY HOURS

  • Core work hours are between the hours of 7 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. local time, Monday thru Friday, except federal holidays or when the government facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar government directed facility closings.
  • May be required to work in the evenings and on weekends to respond to requests for information by the COR or the DAVAs.
