Forney ISD is Hiring an Engagement coordinator Near Forney, TX

The Coordinator of Parent Education is responsible for organizing and facilitating programs / workshops aimed at educating parenting on various aspects of child development, family dynamics and parent / student engagement sessions.

Their purpose is to empower parents with knowledge and skills to better support their child and strengthen parent-child relationships and promote positive outcomes for families.

Education / Certification

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education, psychology, social work, family studies or a related field.

Special Knowledge / Skills

  • Ability to assess, develop and implement parent / adult education programs that support district mission.
  • Collaborate with campuses, mental health agencies and businesses to provide campus / district focused parent / adult education seminars.
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite, learning management systems, student information systems, and instructional technology.
  • Research and determine what resources are needed to assist families within our district.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers to develop and support the district mission.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and deliver quality presentations for staff and families.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.

Experience

  • Minimum of three years experience in adult and family support services.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles, family dynamics, and parenting practices.
  • Community outreach experience.
  • Social support experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to district staff to help identify needs. Collaborates with local, regional, and state organizations to create opportunities to help families.
  • Develop and implement community groups, partnerships and connections for district staff and families.
  • Support and assistance so that families, caregivers, youth, and family members learn, grow and develop skills to effectively advocate for their educational needs.
  • District representative on surrounding area resources.
  • Educational seminars for staff and families.
  • Provide presentations and workshops for staff, families and other professionals.
  • Identify needed topics and sites in collaboration with local groups / agencies.
  • Assist with dissemination of marketing materials (i.e. share emails, hand-deliver flyers, post on Social Media, etc.)
  • Assure sign-in of attendees and evaluations are disseminated and recorded. Prepare and submit workshop data.
  • Attend and / or coordinate resource fairs with local partners.
  • Write / design training materials, as requested.
  • Be the first point of contact to support staff and families with needed services.
  • Build professional community collaborative partnerships by attending, being involved and / or assisting with local area meetings, conferences and / or committees.
