Scion Staffing is Hiring a Fund Accountant (Nonprofit) Near Forest, IL

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Nonprofit Fund Accountant for a nonprofit dedicated to developing impactful housing initiatives for individuals experiencing houselessness in Chicago. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity based in the Chicagoland area slightly West of Forest Park that offers an on-site schedule working alongside a personable and mission-driven team.
In this role, the Nonprofit Fund Accountant will be responsible for overseeing grant related accounting operations as well as general ledger activities while maintaining confidentiality with sensitive information collaborating with staff as necessary.

  • On-site work environment during the training period. Will transition to a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain the agency's financial operations through meticulous record keeping, account reporting, and general ledger management.
  • Prepare and post payroll journal entry with allocation of staff time while ensure payroll timelines are met
  • Perform month-end close journal entries including balance sheet account analysis.
  • Track and record any donations in the accounting software
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare financial audit schedules
  • Create and utilize reports generated from the accounting software
  • Maintain and reconcile Grant funded security deposit schedule
  • Oversee public grant binders to ensure compliance with all annual contracts, budget changes, reports, and correspondences are filed accordingly
  • Manage the grant accounting of public and private grants while monitoring the fiscal aspects of grant activities preparing reports and statements for funding sources on a monthly and quarterly basis
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Nonprofit accounting experience with knowledge of contract and grant accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Proficiency in accounting software like MIP, as well as Microsoft Office 365
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, and fund accounting
  • Skilled attention to detail with a hard focus on accountability, confidentiality, accounting controls, timeliness, reporting, and accuracy
  • Desire to work on a mission driven team that makes a direct impact on the community of Chicago
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This direct-hire opportunity allows you to work with an enthusiastic and thriving nonprofit organization! The competitive salary ranges between $60,000 - $63,000 annually and has the potential to start immediately. There is a temporary on-site work environment during the training period that transitions to hybrid with 3 days in office and two days remote! There is also a robust benefits package provided if converted to permanent employment after the contract period that includes 100% employer-paid medical, vision, and dental insurance, mental health coverage, generous PTO, a retirement plan with a 3% employer match, and more!
