Doctors Urgent Care of DFW is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Flower Mound, TX

Job description

Doctors Urgent Care of Flower Mound and Northlake are seeking Medical Assistants for PRN positions. These urgent cares offer the growing Northlake and Flower Mound communities convenient and quality service by top rated board-certified physicians. And they are looking for you to join their team!

This position is for Medical Assistants to work PRN position; certified MA or NCT credentials are strongly preferred. These individual will report to the physician director/site manager. Medical Assistants will be tasked with providing professional care for all patients following established standards and practices and will work under direct supervision of the physician. All matters outside of their scope of duties will be deferred to the physician and/or Site Manager.

POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties in accordance with clinical, OSHA and infection control standards
  • Document all patient-related communication and interventions in patient’s electronic medical record
  • Prepare patients for examination and assists physician during treatment, examinations and testing of patients
  • Measure and record vital signs
  • Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint
  • Perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection in accordance with Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards, including control testing
  • Maintain lab specimen logs
  • Interpret and carry-out provider order
  • Prepare and administer medications applying aseptic technique
  • Proficient in point of care testing and standard in-office procedures (nebulizer treatments, injections, basic wound care, procedure set-up
  • Observe patient response to medications administered and reports adverse events to provider
  • Coordinate out-patient testing and referrals as necessary
  • Coordinate hospital pre-admission when necessary
  • Prepare, restock and disinfect examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas at scheduled intervals and as needed
  • Represent clinic in a professional manner
  • Treat all customers and fellow employees in a courteous and cooperative manner.
  • Attend required meetings
  • Participate in team activities and professional development activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Performs timely and quality radiology procedures for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician
  • Performs quality control checks/audits on radiologic equipment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of Medical Assistant program
  • NCT License with x-ray experience, minimum 1 year (preferred)
  • Current professional certification in medical assisting or eligible for certification within 90 days of employment
  • Current CPR certification
  • Minimum of one-year clinical experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment under deadline situations
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use a computer and enter data in a medical management application

EXPERIENCE

  • 1 year of clinical experience in a patient care setting is highly preferred
  • Experience using an EHR system is extremely helpful
  • Insurance Verification

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Non-Registered Technician (NCT) license in state of residency if required by the state (preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant license (preferred)
  • Current BLS Certification is required within 30 days of start.
