Haag Engineering is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Flower Mound, TX

Haag, a leader in forensic engineering and consulting since 1924, is seeking a Staff Accountant for the Flower Mound office. This is a hybrid role working 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely each week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

SIGNIFICANT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Daily operations shall include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with external and internal corporate audit and valuation efforts
  • Ensure accounting records and systems are in balance and properly closed on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis; prepare general ledger account reconciliations as assigned
  • Create management reports; perform scheduled, regular and ad hoc analyses, as assigned or requested
  • Create depreciation schedules and maintain fixed assets
  • Assist with monthly close, including journal entries and allocations
  • Team back-up for cash receipts application
  • Other projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university is required
  • 2 years of accounting experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Highly self-motivated individual who works independently with little instruction or supervision
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in the Microsoft Suite of products, with a high focus on Excel skills (i.e.: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP’s, related analytics, etc.)
  • Some knowledge of data analytics or report creation preferred
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) principles
  • Professional demeanor; great communicator with a team-success focus
  • Organized and detail oriented 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods of the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 50 pounds. 

Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
