Title: School-Based Therapist
Qualifications:
Reports to: Clinical Supervisor and assigned Principal
Job Goal: With problem prevention and treatment as the major focus, the School-Based Therapist
shall work cooperatively with appropriate staff to provide children with clinically based RBHS
services that will be effective in meeting their individual psychosocial needs.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Provides clinically based RBHS services designed to enhance the behavioral, social and
emotional development of appropriate students in a school setting.
2. Assesses students referred by staff for presence of mental health disorders according to DSM-5
criteria.
3. Establishes whether services are medically necessary, creating an Individual Plan of Care for
students that meet diagnostic criteria.
4. Conducts individual or group therapeutic counseling sessions in accordance with client’s IPOC
and IEP goals (where the SBT is listed as a provider) and in accordance with the client’s DA.
5. As appropriate, develops interventions for RBHS clients that will increase school success; and
reduce discipline referrals, out-of-school suspensions, administrative hearings, and more
restrictive placements.
6. In accordance with federal guidelines maintains clinical records for each student receiving
RBHS services & documents Clinical Services in the district approved electronic record in
accordance with Medicaid guidelines.
7. Conforms to all rules and regulations regarding documentation and billing Medicaid for clinical
services provided.
RBHS Salary Scale. Salary and work year to be established by the district.
