Location: VA Hospital, Fayetteville, NC

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Clinic or Operating Room (OR) Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch

Position Overview:

As a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville, NC, you will be an integral part of our healthcare team, providing comprehensive primary care to our nation's veterans and their families. You will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Primary Care Services: Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients across the lifespan, including health promotion, disease prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic health conditions.

  2. Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough health assessments, including physical examinations, medical history reviews, and diagnostic screenings, to formulate accurate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans.

  3. Chronic Disease Management: Manage and monitor chronic health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease, utilizing evidence-based guidelines and best practices to optimize patient outcomes.

  4. Acute Care: Assess and manage acute illnesses and injuries, including minor procedures and wound care, in collaboration with the healthcare team.

  5. Medication Management: Prescribe medications and therapies according to established protocols and guidelines, ensuring safe and effective pharmacotherapy while monitoring for potential adverse effects and drug interactions.

  6. Health Promotion and Education: Educate patients and their families about preventive healthcare measures, lifestyle modifications, and self-management strategies to promote wellness and improve overall health outcomes.

  7. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care, facilitate referrals, and ensure continuity of care for patients.

  8. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHRs), documenting patient encounters, assessments, interventions, and follow-up care in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.

  9. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement activities to enhance the delivery of healthcare services and promote patient safety and satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in the state of North Carolina
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible Physician Services by the American Board of Family Practice and be currently
  • Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) documentation
